With production on the big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's supernatural series "Mortal Instruments" slated for mid-August, it's no wonder a legion of casting news has been slipping through the portal over the past few weeks. The latest according to Constantin Films: CCH Pounder and Aidan Turner will journey to the "City of Bones."
CCH, whom you likely recognize from a slew of TV roles including "The Shield," "Law & Order: SVU" and "Warehouse 13," will play Madame Dorothea, a medium who lives in protagonist Clary Fray's apartment building. As for Aidan, who's no stranger to the unexplained having played a vampire on the BBC series "Being Human," he will play Jocelyn Fray's long-suffering friend Luke Garroway. (With his natural dark, scruffy looks, we couldn't picture a better actor to portray the Shadowhunter-turned-werewolf. I mean, he just seems like the kind of guy whose bureau is bursting with flannel, you know?)
The thesps join a large ensemble cast which already includes Lily Collins as Clary, Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace, Jemima West as Isabelle, Robert Sheehan as Simon, Godfrey Gao as Magnus, Lena Headey as Jocelyn, Jared Harris as Hodge, and Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet as Valentine's henchmen.
And in case you were wondering, no word yet from Constantin as to whether those Kevin-Zegers-as-Alec rumors are true.
"City of Bones" will hit theaters August 2013.
