If you're still mourning the tragic demise of The CW's witchy "Secret Circle" series, we may have a magical remedy for you. Deadline reports that Melissa de la Cruz's best-selling novel "Witches of East End" has been optioned by everyone's favorite lady network Lifetime!
"Witches of East End" centers around the Beauchamp family of sorceresses who reside in fictional North Hampton, Long Island. Following the Salem Witch Trials, the women were ordered to no longer use their powers and to, instead, live as mere mortals. Centuries later, though, the women begin dabbling in the mystical arts again, just as mysterious happenings befall their beach-side community. In signature Melissa de la Cruz fashion, the narrative boasts satisfying servings of both supernatural intrigue and saucy romance. On the small screen, we imagine "Witches of East End" as a sort of "Revenge" meets "Eastwick" with just a dash of "Gilmore Girls."
A pilot is expected for 2013.
"Witches of East End" is the first installment in Melissa's magical series, with the second novel, "Serpent's Kiss," debuting back in June.
