From Gosling to a Gossip Girl, director Nicolas Winding Refn is proving himself a versatile talent. The "Drive" helmer's latest project: directing Blake Lively in a new commercial for the Gucci fragrance Gucci Première.
Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old actress looks simply stunning in a form-fitting gold gown and sleek pin-curled locks as she hawks the designer perfume. But being the stylish cinephiles that we are, we couldn't help but also notice a few parallels between this 30-second spot and the director's 2011 drama. Our full inspection is after the jump!
La-la-land love letter
In "Drive," Nicolas took us on a white-knuckle ride through L.A.'s gritty back alleys and roads less traveled, offering a glimpse of the metropolis we rarely see. Once again, the city of angels plays backdrop to the action, but this time it's more bright lights, big city and less valley of the damned.
Going down...
Elevator fetish much? At least this time, no one's head is getting crushed under Ryan Gosling's heel.
Stellar sounds
"Drive" gained a trunk-load of praise for its synth-heavy soundtrack, which included acts like College and Electric Youth. Here, Nicolas opts for a similarly funky feel, featuring Eric Prydz's remix of M83's Midnight City. Thank you, Nicolas, for the eye and ear candy. Now if you'd only tapped Ryan Gosling to star as Blake's love interest...
