Stock your shower caddy with plenty of red velvet cupcakes because the "Girls" are returning sooner than we expected. HBO announced today that the sophomore season of their hit series will bow in January 2013, not next spring as TV-scheduling logic would dictate.
The cast, including Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, have been hard at work shooting the second season. And in addition to the familiar faces, "Girls" will welcome new cast members Patrick Wilson as a doctor who romances Hannah and "Community" star Donald Glover as, well, we don't know yet. Deadline also reported yesterday that "Life Unexpected" actress Shiri Appleby has been cast as a new love interest for Hannah's former flame, Adam. She's described as "a beautiful and charming New Yorker who adores Adam despite his wild sexual tendencies." So, basically, every man's dream girl!
In the meantime, we'll likely lay eyes on Lena and co. next at the 64th annual Emmy Awards, where the series is nominated for five statuettes, including best comedy series.
