It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a young actress on the A-list train must be in want of at least one Scream Queen role on her resume before she hits superstardom...or at least, that's what our good friend Jane Austen would say if she were a) a movie fan and b) not dead. Because it's true: A starring role in a first-rate Hollywood horror flick is one of those things that just about every up-and-coming actress has to cross off her bucket list. And in honor of Fall Movie Preview Week, we've got an EXCLUSIVE clip from the scare-tastic horror debut of THE most talked-about lady in the entertainment biz. Yep, you guessed it: It's Jennifer Lawrence, committing a classic horror film faux-pas in "The House at the End of the Street."

A late night, a dark street, a young woman alone in an isolated house who hears a mysterious noise and goes outside unarmed to investigate like a total dumb dumb... Ah, yes, this is just the well-traveled horror territory we know and love. (Honestly, girl: At least grab a frying pan with which to defend yourself. A fork? A spatula! Anything!)
But with the Oscar-nominated Jennifer headlining the film, we can definitely expect a big, bold, visceral performance that goes beyond plain old screaming—and a story that director Mark Tonderai put plenty of soul into along with the expected scares. Want to read more about Jennifer's casting and the making of the movie? Scoot over to MTV News for our exclusive interview! And maybe bring a spatula, just in case.
"The House at the End of the Street" hits theaters September 21.
How do you like our new peek at Jennifer's scary movie?
