'Secret Circle' Star Phoebe Tonkin Conjures Up New Role On 'Vampire Diaries'
Aug 7th 2012, 18:53

Phoebe TonkinWe're finally going to get that crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Secret Circle," albeit not exactly in the way we'd imagined.

Next season on "The Vampire Diaries," the cast will be joined by Phoebe Tonkin, better known as fan-favorite bad-girl witch Faye from "The Secret Circle"! Phoebe will play a "free-spirited" and "extremely sexy" girl from Tyler's past named Hayley, according to E! Online. She's set to arrive in episode three.

"The Secret Circle" was cancelled after just one season, leaving all of us to wonder what might have happened when those other Blackwell kids showed up to town. Both shows have author L.J. Smith to thank for their source material and shared an executive producer in Kevin Williamson, who honed his horror chops and teen drama skills as the mastermind behind the "Scream" franchise and "Dawson's Creek."

And while the shows didn't share story continuity, Phoebe herself is no stranger to the guys and girls of Mystic Falls. As their Twitter followers know, Phoebe is close pals with fellow Australian bombshell Claire Holt, better known to "TVD" watchers as Original family vampire Rebekah. They've been friends since they were 15. The pair starred together on the Australian TV series "H2O: Just Add Water," a teen drama with a supernatural element of its own: the girls played mermaids.

"She's one of my best friends in the entire world, and we actually live next to each other in L.A.," Phoebe told Hollywood Crush earlier this year. "It's always nice when your close friends are getting work and getting the success that they deserve. With Claire, she is just killing it right now. She's so amazing on 'The Vampire Diaries.' And not to mention how cool it is that we're both on the same night, on the same [network], with the same producer. It's kind of a weird coincidence."

What will the arrival of a hottie like Hayley mean for the relationship between Tyler and Caroline? We can't wait to find out!

Episode one of "The Vampire Diaries" season four will be called "Growing Pains." And thanks to a tweet from executive producer Julie Plec, we know that episode two will be called "Memorial." The show is set to return to The CW on Thursday, October 11.
