Maggie Stiefvater's 'Raven Boys' Taking Flight As Movie
Sep 17th 2012, 14:04

I spent the weekend with a girl named Blue and her Raven Boys. What did you do?

After tearing through Maggie Stiefvater's excellent new novel "The Raven Boys" (full review coming Friday), I couldn't be more enthused that the supernatural story will take flight as a movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film rights to the book (which hits stores tomorrow) have been purchased by New Line!

The first in a four-book series, "The Raven Boys" follows 16-year-old Blue Sargent, the daughter of a psychic who has been told from a young age that her kiss will kill her one true love. But boys have never been much of a concern for Blue, that is until she gets caught up with a group of Raven Boys—the impossibly rich and privileged students of Aglionby Academy—who are on the hunt for a centuries-sleeping Welsh king. Once awoken, the royal will grant one favor.

Maggie is no stranger to YA-lovers, having penned a number of unputdownable reads including "The Scorpio Races" and the "Shiver" series, both of which have been optioned by Warner Bros.

Which of Maggie's imaginative tales will end up on the big screen first? That's another mystery we can't wait to see unraveled.
