Everything's coming up roses in this week's fashion spotlight, as some of Hollywood's finest brought out adventurous fall florals for their red-carpet appearances. From embroidered, body-climbing roses to a sheer-and-shimmering autumnal print, these fashion-forward ladies made joining the garden club seem like a chic idea. But only one can take the Style Superstar honors! Who is it?
Anne Hathaway, who showed up to the New York City Ballet gala and showed all the bunheads present just how to work a pixie cut to its elegant max. This busy print might invite "grandma's couch" jokes on another actress, but with Anne's short hair, smoky eyes and long, long neck, her Valentino Couture gown in an autumnal palette was sheer glamour—and a peek-a-boo back plus shimmering silver embroidery (you can't see it, but trust us, it's there) made this a uniquely gorgeous nighttime look.
Also working a floral look by Valentino this week: Olivia Palermo, who was pretty in pink at the Brazil Foundation Gala in New York. But while the lace overlay and delicate embroidery on her gown is stunning, the color left her looking a little washed-out, and the abrupt mid-thigh cut-off of her underslip is distracting. We admire her for trying—it's challenging to wear a dress this sheer without looking either naked or dowdy—but a full-length slip in a gauzier fabric would've really let this look shine.
