The Venice Film Festival came to an end last Saturday, but we can't move on just yet—not without one last nod to the bold red-carpet style that was on display between screenings. And while we don't have a golden lion to hand out in appreciation for her fashionable achievements, we can at least offer Roxane Mesquida this week's title of Style Superstar.
The "Kiss of the Damned" actress pulled out all the stops for her ensemble at the film's Venice screening, yet still managed to look poised and perfectly in control...which is quite a feat, considering the combination of a colorful print, a super-short hemline and shoes that look like small feathered beasts. Roxane's Giorgio Armani dress, with its starry-night sparkle motif, is a daring choice all on its own. But rather than tone it down with a simple pump and understated makeup, the actress opted for bright red lips and, um, those shoes. THOSE SHOES. Shoes which 99.99999 percent of the population of the world couldn't wear in a million years without looking ridiculous, but which look downright phenomenal on her: the mark of a true Style Superstar.
Also taking a fashion risk this week: Jessica Alba, who wore this pretty, printed Valentino frock with a high, tied neck to the Self Magazine Women Doing Good Awards. But alas, she wouldn't have taken home any prizes for her outfit, which overwhelmed her frame and made her look peculiarly shapeless. And we know Jessica Alba is not shapeless. Hopefully she'll hang on to the dress—it's a great one—but pair it with a belt for some much-needed structure next time.
