We've been squeezing "The Vampire Diaries" folks for information about season four at every available opportunity, and we're happy to report that they haven't steered us wrong! Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and executive producer Julie Plec told us that things will kick off with Elena struggling through the (spoiler alert, if you haven't seen season three!) human-to-vampire tradition and this brand new official trailer gives us a nice taste of exactly that.
It's amazing how much a minute and ten seconds can reveal. We get to see Elena asking the Salvatore brothers, "Am I dead?" We see that Stefan wants to explore every possibility imaginable to prevent Elena from transitioning to full-on fanger. Damon is more accepting of the situation, emphasizing to both his brother and the girl they both love that she has to feed pronto or she'll die for real. Bonnie, meanwhile, is working on a somewhat sketchy plan that may or may not involve killing Elena and bringing her back to life. Sheriff Forbes is dealing with some new bad guys (one of whom is sporting a priest collar—shout-out to the final season of "Buffy"?) while her daughter, Caroline, is getting down with some steamy hybrid make out action. As in, Tyler possessed by Klaus, we think!
Damon definitely blames Matt for Elena's situation (again, if you haven't watched the season three finale, what are you waiting for? And why are you still reading?) and we see him taking out some of that anger in this trailer. There's also a car crash involving Rebekah and another blonde vamp.
Perhaps our favorite moment is when a clearly emotionally exhausted Jeremy asks his big sister, with an excellent dryness, "Your fangs come in yet?"
On October 11, we'll get to see those fangs!
