Maci of "Teen Mom," like all young adults, is affected by many of the decisions the government makes, so it's smart that she's planning to vote and encouraging others to do the same in the MTV News video below. Politics may sometimes seem abstract and confusing, but the issues hit closer to home than you might think. For Maci, Kyle and their friends, things like student loans, the military, taxes and reproductive rights are of the utmost importance, but there's also healthcare, the deficit and the environment for all young people to keep in mind.
If you're a young mom, childcare, child support, welfare, education and access to contraception are probably at the top of your list, but no matter what issues are of concern to you, you shouldn't sit back and let others decide the outcome. In an election year, caring about the issues just isn't enough--you can make a real difference by voting for candidates who represent and uphold your beliefs.
Exercising your right to vote means getting your voice heard. And with 45 million potential young voters, the largest voting bloc in the country, that's a voice that can really make a difference.
