With "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" hitting theaters just one month from tomorrow, you can expect to see various "Twilight" cast members peeking out from newsstands starting right about... now! And front and center today is Ashley Greene, whose lovely face will be gracing the cover of Marie Claire's November issue just in time for the movie's release.
We've heard a lot about Kristen Stewart's tortilla soup-making skills over the past year or so, but she isn't the only member of the vampire brigade to be comfortable in the kitchen; Ashley's chef cred is front and center in her interview, which took place during a private cooking class. And while she put a swift kibosh on any discussion of her co-stars' personal lives (there'll be no dish on the Robsten affair here), she was happy to discuss her own—beginning with the difficulty of dating as a working actress.
"I'm always here and there—everyone in my industry is—and that's why a lot of relationships are fleeting," she explained. "I've gotten very good at detaching whenever I have to go away for three months, which I realize is hard on friends and kind of selfish. You go on a couple of dates, and then someone ships off to do a movie. It's not like you're going to fly out and see them, because it's not serious enough for that."
Ashley has been steadily employed for the past several years—taking on roles from a scream-queeny turn in a random horror flick to a serious part in the film "CBGB" when she wasn't filming "Twilight"—and leaving herself little opportunity to be in any one place for long. But when she does take a break, she says, her new place on the acting A-list doesn't mean she'll be living large off-screen.
"I'm lucky because my dad taught me to be frugal and save," she said. "And that's important because I want to know that I don't have to take an acting job for two or three years if I don't want to and that I'll still be able to make my house and car payments and buy food for my dogs."
Want more? In an exclusive feature from behind the scenes at her photo shoot, Ashley segues seamlessly from discussing her personal style ("classic with a twist") to musing on the reliability of chicken as a go-to base for good meals.
