Jackie O. Lauren Conrad said goodbye to "The Hills" for the very last time at Season 5's halfway point after watching Heidi and Spencer become man and wife. The Laguna native set her sights on the untelevised road ahead, but the show had to go on, and in a city like Los Angeles, there's always someone ready to take your place.
Re-enter: Kristin Cavallari, mortal enemy to LC's high school self, who'd been flying under the SoCal radar before showing up to Speidi's union. Kristin riled up Stephanie, Audrina and Co. early on as the new HBIC, but eventually found her footing in the group of pre-exisiting friends (and ex-boyfriend Brody, of course). Take a look at the show's best efforts from 2009--when a Playboy Bunny and bartender both refused to play nice, and Audrina finally worked up the nerve to tell Justin Bobby to F*** OFF!
Never Miss A Party: With Lauren's birthday on the horizon, Heidi began to miss her ex-BFF more than usual. So, naturally, she plotted a way to sneak onto LC's boat-bash and wait until it left the dock--and the two were trapped together--to say hello. Lauren was resistant to Heidi's advances at first, but when the two got to talking about the good ol' days, she couldn't help but get teary. "My favorite stories are my stories with you--my favorite memories are my memories with you," Heidi managed to squeak out through tears. Kleenex: where?!

Steph, The Intern: It's not always about the drama! After Lauren went out on a limb to get Stephanie an internship at People's Revolution, the young Pratt predictably came up short on a number of office tasks. Stephanie excelled at hanging up the phone on callers, forgetting to ready photo shoots and not being able to export documents. She wound up getting the ax, but at least we got a lot of laughs along the way.

Back Off, Bartender: Stacie The Bartender might finally be ready for a life of wedded bliss, but there was a time when she came between the Heidi and Spencer love nest. When Heids heard Stacie was getting all up on her man, she marched over to The Dime (Stacie's place of employment), and famously declared "I think you're a home-wrecker. I think that you're rude. I think you're a slut." So...no free shots then?

The Apology No One Saw Coming: Lauren and Spencer didn't start off particularly chummy, but when Spence turned the Lauren Conrad-rumor mill, their standing as enemies was confirmed. And when Heidi pleaded with Spencer to help her get Lauren to the long-awaited Speidi wedding, he remained an antagonist to the girls' reunion. After some soul-searching, though, and in an unprecedented act of compassion, Spencer called LC after Heidi paid her old friend a visit, copped to starting the sex-tape rumors and begged her to be a part of his and Heidi's wedding. Unexpected? Yeah, guess we can start there...

One Last Goodbye: In the blink of an eye, Lauren Conrad had transformed from a wide-eyed 19-year-old fashion student into a well-adjusted PR pro in the styling world. She swore she'd never be party to Spencer and Heidi's wedding, but swallowed her pride at the last minute to give her old friend her best wishes before Heidi took that big, bad walk down the aisle. Lauren didn't stay for the party, though, and while the rest of the ceremony's crowd set out to get their groove on, she took one last look at the world she'd known and left it behind.

Way To Make An Entrance: Kristin Cavallari was never one to mince words, and when Stephanie called her out for talking to Audrina's ex (Justin Bobby!) at a party, K-Cav went off. In her defense, she didn't instigate the argument, but once Stephanie and Audrina revved her engine, there was no hitting the brakes. "It's on, bitch!" was the confrontation's lasting sentiment, and if the next few episodes served as any evidence, it certainly was.

The Meanest Bunny In Town: Across a handful of "Hills" seasons, Brody Jenner proved he was no stranger to the dating scene. With Lauren, Kristin and Audrina all in his rear-view mirror, it seemed he had finally found a good girlfriend in Playboy Bunny Jayde. But the model proved to be the jealous type, and when she caught Kristin hanging out with her beau, she went off on K-Cav over drinks. Jayde insinuated Kristin couldn't do any better than the guys readily available in her group of friends, and Kristin somehow took the remark in stride. Just kidding! She bit back and called Jayde a bitch a whole bunch of times. God, we love this girl.

Fu** Off, Justin Bobby: After rolling over and taking JB's sh** for years, Audrina readied her backbone for a final farewell to her back-and-forth boyfriend. Justin tried to sidestep blame for leading Audrina on, but the group's lone brunette was meek no longer, and had no intention of letting the guy off easy. "You're selfish, you're self-centered--all you care about is yourself," 'Drina snarled, driving the point into the cheap seats. She wished JB well, and for the first time maybe ever, his face flashed a hint of remorse.
