Ahhhh, yes: another day, another reason to drool uncontrollably over the long-awaited prequel to Andrea Cremer's "Nightshade" series. After an early peek at a sample chapter and the gorgeous cover reveal back in March, fans have been tensely awaiting the chance to see where it all began with "Rift," the book that will unveil the exciting origin story of the Knights of Conatus, the story behind the Witches War and a brand new heroine for us to live vicariously through. And while the book still won't be here until August (blargh!), there's an exclusive trailer for us to analyze while we wait (yay!).

"Rift" promises to give loyal readers and new fans alike the history lesson they've been waiting for, as the source of the ancient conflict between Searches and Keepers will finally be revealed in detail—and this trailer promises that it'll be just as exciting, action-packed, and steamy as the wolfish drama of "Nightshade."
But of course, like all good book trailers, this one also contains more questions than answers. Is that warrior heroine Ember doing battle with an unnamed (but decidedly smoldering) dude in a doublet? Is that a sentient smoke monster creeping up from the forest floor? And c'mon guys: this "love is forbidden" thing is more, like, a set of suggestive guidelines than an actual rule, right? (Sort of like Pirate Law?) Because not only is there a serious hottie front and center in this piece, but an Andrea Cremer book that doesn't include at least one romantic entanglement just seems wrong and mean.
