Chris Colfer Adapting 'Struck By Lightning' Script Into YA Novel
Aug 9th 2012, 14:17

We already knew that Chris Colfer was a talented dude thanks to his fabulous work on "Glee"—and a multi-talented one thanks to his first feature film, "Struck by Lightning." But while all that singing and dancing and acting and writing AND producing would be enough to satisfy most Hollywood overachievers (or at least prompt a much-needed vacation), a report from Entertainment Weekly has the news that Chris' boundless energy and apparently bottomless supply of talents has him sprouting yet another branch on the already-flourishing tree of his career: a new young-adult novel!

The book is called "Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal," a literary adaptation of the film with the same name—which Chris wrote, produced, and starred in, and which will be released by Tribeca Films later this year. The story centers on an ambitious young man named Carson Phillips, whose long-standing plan to escape his small town and become an intellectual heavyweight at New York's most hoity-toity magazine is compromised when he's (surprise, surprise) struck by lightning. Also, there's blackmail involved.

This will be Chris's second book (he's already published a bestselling middle-grade novel called "The Land of Stories"), and it'll be out in stores November 20. And with the release date likely coinciding more or less with the appearance of the movie in theaters, devoted fans will have the choice to read it, or see it, or even, if you are feeling very energetic, read it and see it at the same time.

Will you be picking up a copy of Chris' new book when it comes out in the fall? sound off in the comments and on Twitter!
