"Hunger Games" DVD/Blu-ray countdown alert: There are less than two weeks to wait before we can all bring home the year's best book-to-movie adaptation thus far. And while it would be nice if the August 18 release date would come a little sooner, the clever folks at Lionsgate Home Entertainment helped increase excitement levels by inviting Hollywood Crush to participate in a fan site screening over the weekend of a teaser reel of bonus features, making the wait a little less painful.
First off, I can't emphasize enough how much fun it is to be around fellow "Hunger Games" fans. The best part of the event was meeting the lovely ladies behind favorite fan sites in person; huge virtual hugs go out to all of you (DownWithTheCapitol.net, HGgirlonFire.com, WelcomeToDistrict12.com, TheHungerGamesMovies.net, Mockingjay.net and Victor's Village) for being so dedicated to a worthy cause and for being genuinely fun to be around.
Moving on to the next best thing about the fan site gathering: the details about the DVD/Blu-ray release.
It's important to note that not all of the DVD/Blu-rays are alike because Target, Wal-Mart and iTunes all worked out deals with the studio to have different reels of behind-the-scenes bonus features, not to mention some fancy-shmancy packaging and collectors items. If you haven't already pre-ordered your DVD or Blu-ray, make sure to check out the specifics for each set of bonus features before you buy.
From the snippets we were shown of each outlet's exclusive, it's going to be a tough decision for fans who want it all. There are meaty casting features with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, an entertaining vignette called the "Tribute Diaries" that was shot via flipcams by the actors themselves, behind-the-scenes features of the intricate makeup designed and applied for that scary tracker jacker sequence, lots of footage of the cast training with weapons for their intense action sequences, step-by-step breakdowns of all the visual effects and CGI work and many, many more.
Oh, and lest we forget, Foxface herself, a.k.a. Jackie Emerson, made an appearance as well. Love love love!
Are you ready for "The Hunger Games" to hit DVD and Blu-ray?
