The king is dead. Long live the king.
If you were a fan of Showtime's rowdy royal romp "The Tudors," then the latest casting rumor from the big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's "Mortal Instruments" novel, "City of Bones," may make you lose your head.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, erstwhile King Henry VIII, also known as actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, is in talks to portray villainous Valentine Morgenstern, protagonist Clary Fray's estranged father who has a long, complicated and contentious history with the Shadowhunter community.
No official confirmation from Constantin Films or author Cassie regarding the news, but with filming set to begin August 15, it won't be a mystery for long as to whether JRM will be our Valentine.
The 35-year-old is having a resurgence of sorts: It was announced last month that Jonathan will take on the role of Dracula in an NBC series from the creators of "Downton Abbey." (We've already set our DVRs...)
"City of Bones," starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, will hit theaters August 2013.
