The show's name says it all: "Awkward." And, going into its second season, we've decided it deserves a Hall of Fame Shame where the most cringeworthy moment of each episode can reside in its own twisted sort of glory. Let's put our cards on the table: For many members of the 21+ crowd, a wedding reception is nothing more than a glorified open bar with a string quartet-accompaniment. Speeches and scriptures are drowned out by the power of cocktails, and guests have a habit of waking up the morning after and wondering what exactly happened after "I do." Usually, though, the bride and groom try to keep their composure, at least for the sake of the wedding album. But matrimony had never seen the likes of Aunt Ally until last week's "Awkward," and as soon as she got a sampling of spirits, there was no going back.
After being cut off by the bartender (but before ripping off her gown's skirt to do The Fish), Aunt Ally proved she'd become a liability to her own nuptials when she could barely lift her head for a photo. Val lectured fellow bridesmaid Sadie for trying to sneak the blushing flushed bride some booze, but once Ally remarked that the album would be better off without Val, it was back to bottoms-up. "Awkward." Hall of Shame inductee? We think so.
