Maci vs. Ryan: Whose Side Are You On In The Bentley Birthday Debate?
Aug 22nd 2012, 03:00

"Teen Mom" comes to completion in just one week, and though we will sorely miss tagging along on all of the girls' individual journeys, there's one thing we're thrilled to put behind us: After next Tuesday, we will never again have to hear Ryan calling Maci "stupid."

That said, the guy did have a point on tonight's episode when he accused his ex of putting Bentley in the middle of their strained relationship. He and Maci had agreed to celebrate Bentley's 3rd birthday separately, but Maci later had a change of heart and asked Bentley if he'd like to invite his dad to the party she was throwing him. Without giving Ryan a heads up, she allowed Bentley to (ADORABLY) extend the offer over the phone, and Ryan gladly accepted. Or so it seemed. We learned towards the end of the episode that Ryan felt put on the spot by his son's sudden call, and faced with no other choice than to say yes, which explains (but doesn't necessarily justify) why he texted Maci after hanging up with Bentley that he'd come to take him home from the party, but not spend time inside.

Maci had every right to be upset by Ryan's take-back, as she would now have to be the bearer of bad news that her little boy's pops wouldn't be helping him blow out candles after all. But, then again, the whole thing could have been avoided if she'd only communicated with Ryan before letting Bentley call him. Ultimately, the kid was the one to suffer most, as he was let down by his dad and forced to witness his parents' fighting on his birthday.

+ Both Ryan and Maci could have handled the situation better, but whose side were you on at the end of their parking lot argument? Take the poll!
