If Neil was the harmless, somewhat dim-witted friend you'll always remember fondly, Jay was likely the antagonist you swore off as soon as that tassel traversed your grad cap's brim. The foul-mouthed "Inbetweener" will serve as the new MTV series' clique of four's resident a**hole, but rest assured, he and his bang-swoop will hammer away at your funny bone until it needs a splint.
"Jay is the kid in high school that you hung out with then, and then, when you're older, you're like, 'Why did I hang out with that guy?'" Zack Pearlman says of his character in the video interview below. Beyond that, Jay's also extra horny, Zack says, and likely to provide the "Uh-oh!" factor at every turn.
Still, for Jay's outlandish audacity, the actor behind him is most proud of the sincerity "The Inbetweeners" strives for, and says he's excited to see how audiences respond to the no-frills, less "fantastical" interpretation of the teenage plight. "This one is based in some sort of reality," he says. "Even though it can get a little surreal, the message behind it is, like, 'I've dealt with these things in my life.'"
