Yes, the unthinkable has happened: McKayla Maroney, known for her internet-famous, shade-throwing indifference to everything from the Mars landing to a double rainbow, is...impressed! Or at least moderately enthused, for sure. And it's all thanks to the imminent magic of the MTV Video Music Awards, where she and other members of the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team will be making an appearance and rubbing shoulders with their favorite stars—including Miley Cyrus, of whom McKayla is an avowed fan.

"I'm very excited to meet her," McKayla said at yesterday's press conference for the big event. "I've been watching her on TV since I was very little, and I love her music, and I'm just super-excited to get to even meet her."
Meanwhile, fellow teammates Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross have their own favorites from Thursday night's lineup.
"For me it would definitely be Lil Wayne because I've always listened to him and he puts together these amazing lyrics and he's just awesome," Gabby said. And Kyla's most-hoped-for meeting? No surprise there!
"I definitely want to meet One Direction. I've been listening to their music for a while, so it will be very exciting to hopefully meet them," she gushed.
Of course, we should warn these three ladies that it's going to be a big, busy evening and all the stars of our VMAs show might be surrounded by an entourage of admirers, so getting up close and personal with their favorite performers might require an acrobatic feat that no normal person could hope to...er... oh, right. Nevermind!
