The Great March of the Olympians towards Mount Primetime continues! First, jeahmaster Ryan Lochte filmed a guest spot (shirtless, naturally) on "90210." Then unimpressed McKayla Maroney stopped by the set of "Pretty Little Liars" for a visit, before joining fellow gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Kyla Ross at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. And now, Gabby has booked her own cameo on one of her fave series, "The Vampire Diaries."
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news that was first hinted at in a tweet from star Nina Dobrev (which seems to have since been removed). But the actress did write this morning: "First thought at 530am when I woke up this morning : 'What to wear when meeting an Olympian Gold Medallist [sic]?'"
No word yet on whether Gabby will play herself (which we sort of doubt—has anyone in Mystic Falls ever watched something on T.V. that didn't involve Andie Star?) or a one-off character (a cousin of Bonnie's, perhaps?). Either way, the gold medalist is living the dream, having been a loud and proud fan of The CW series long before landing a guest spot. (We didn't name her our pop-culture soulmate for nothing!)
